Summer is here! Time for Vacation Bible School, summer camps, vacations, and if you’re like my 2 daughters, it’s time to swim! Summer is also a time for gardening. The other day I enjoyed a truly magnificent tomato. Honestly, it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. (It probably came from Fred Robinson’s garden!) Summer is a lot of things but summer is a time when things grow. Over the last several months in church we’ve celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord, remembered the birth of the Church through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and looked at how this Spirit transformed and shaped these early followers of Christ.
Now that it’s summer, it’s time for us to grow spiritually. Christ is risen! We are temples of the Holy Spirit. The seeds of faith have been planted and it’s time for those seeds to produce fruit. That’s why we’re beginning a new sermon series on the fruits of the Spirit. From Galatians 5 it says that the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We’re going to spend these summer months growing in grace and allowing these fruits to become more apparent in our daily lives. With all your “summer plans” be sure to make church a priority. Because as everything around us grows, we want to grow as well and be fruitful to the glory of God! See you Sunday! Andy Click here to download the July Newsletter!
