Welcome!
What’s distinctive about us?
First Methodist Church Gonzales operates under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is the Word of God, contains everything necessary for salvation, and instructive for living holy lives. We live our calling to make disciples of Jesus Christ with great passion, and believe Jesus called us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.: Matthew 28: 19-20
We have a rich heritage that values scriptural authority, personal and social holiness, Spirit-Led worship, intentional service to those in need and the importance of living the life of faith in intentional community for study, prayer and accountability.

Being a Methodist Means..
Commitment
|
How do I join?
At the end of worship, you are invited to come forward to the Pastor and join by one of these ways:
How do Methodists understand Baptism?
Baptism and Holy Communion are the sacraments. A sacrament is an outward and visible sign of God’s invisible and spiritual grace.) In our Baptism God cleanses us of our sins; God claims us and makes us Children of God. Through God’s claiming we become heirs of all the promises of God. Finally, Baptism places us in the community of faith; so
Baptism is how we become members of Christ’s Church.
Do I have to be Baptized when I join the Church?
If you have already been baptized, then there is no need to be baptized again. Joining members will be asked to faithfully respond to these questions:
- By Transferring your membership from your current church.
- By Profession of Faith: declaring your belief in Jesus Christ and committing to support Christ’s church. A second baptism is NOT necessary, but if you have never been baptized, please contact the Pastor to make arrangements.
- By Restoration: for former members of this congregation who wish to renew their commitment to Christ’s Church.
